Teen Night To Dye For: Indigo Shibori Workshop
Date: Thursday, 7/19
Instructor: Kate Eggleston
Age: teen night (14-18)
Price: $65 per person
This one day workshop allows you to discover the beauty of indigo shibori! Shibori is a series of Japanese resist dye techniques which create unique patterns on fabric by folding, binding, and sewing. Students will produce an array of 8-10 designs dyed in beautiful indigo. The instructor will teach the basic methods for shibori as well as how to dye with synthetic indigo.
Maximum 12 students.
What is included:
- Dyeing tools, indigo dye vats, aprons, practice fabric, and other items needed for the workshop will be provided.
STUDENTS MUST BRING:
Students should bring 8-10 small/medium items to dye that are pre-washed, light-colored or white, and made of 100% natural fiber. Natural fiber items can be made of cotton, wool, silk, hemp, etc. Some popular items to dye are scarves, baby onesies, t-shirts, dish towels, and fabric cut by the yard. Thick fabrics, such as denim, are slightly harder to work with so softer fabrics would be good for beginners. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and bring a pair of long cuffed rubber kitchen gloves.
